Merlin and Jim finish preparing Tow Mater for the Off Road Wrecker Games. Instead of making major upgrades in performance they are going for a more.. comfortable approach. This video also has highlights of Mater’s adventures over the years that have never been seen before on youtube! We hope to see you at the off road wrecker games this upcoming weekend!

16.03.2023Well, I think Rory, Matt and Paul are most in their element at Sand Hollow, all of them have driven those trails tons of times so I have to say they have the advantage. I'd say in that order too. I'd put you in 3rd and honestly because I've not seen you do near as many recoveries as the afore mention fella's. It also appears the taller tired rigs have an advantage as well. I do know I'm looking forward to watching it. Good luck and stay safe!!
Rod Pasichnyk
16.03.20231st Rory, 2nd Merlin, 3rd Matt, 4th Paul, 5th Eric.
Sparky Dew
16.03.2023I say it between Merlin and Paul Trail Mater
Michael Wojdyla
16.03.2023I'd say Rory, you and BSF will be top 3… Matts will prob lose a driveshaft and Paul's will be untested. Haha! Will be fun to watch and all of you are good at what you do though.
Tim Mccreery
16.03.2023My prediction is- it's between you and Rory. It seems to me you two are the only ones who have had off-road wreckers for any length of time. I like Paul but his stuff seems to break alot. I like Matt's builds, but he broke his NP transfer case twice at the Hammers. With his power and possible traction he needs BIG parts, plus with his history stuff breaks for him alot too.

16.03.2023Honestly, it's gonna come down to you, rory and Eric. I feel your trucks are more sorted out than Paul or Matt's. Good luck to you with the diesel, under dogging it!

16.03.2023I'm gonna root everyone as it's a great group and looking forward to watching. Cheers brother.

16.03.2023Not sure of the events other then what I have seen on Matts. Gotta' believe from watching the different feeds that Rory is the most likely to succeed overall. As far as getting around up and down the tough trails if it can keep output shafts in it Matts International. Paul's if it by some chance can get out there and work without any trials could be a challenge to everybody . IF it was a contest of driving 75 miles and bull a load out and haul it back on flatter terrain back I like Merlin's Chevy. The most likely to get broken, Matts Heavy wrecker. The most likely to get through unbroken, Merlins. The most likely to win Rory. Now all that being said I am so impressed and basically gobsmacked by Merlins mini semi and trailer. Would love to know how many manhours are in the transformation of his semi trailer. I am mesmerized watching these guys builds and really have a tremendous amount of respect for all of them. Just wish there was a Ford somewhere.

16.03.2023Let me first say I love this wrecker community and each of you are awesome. That said, I would place you in second, top 3 for sure. We all know Rory and his team are (almost) impossible to beat. the rest of the pack is anyone's guess. I'm bettin' that you and Rory will be the Pro Show and the real shenanigans will take place involving the others. Good luck, God Bless and be safe!
John Seher
14.03.2023If that Chevy truck was up north on the Alcan Highway during WW IImy father likely worked on it. He liked those OHV Chevys. As for the contest, I think experience, both driver and vehicle, counts a lot. Unproven equipment will likely run into trouble. I'm predicting a three way battle among Roy, Eric, and Merlin.
Ryan Johnson
14.03.2023I'm still wondering, if the games are about towing or just climbing up and down hills and rocks, that really would be to steep to safely tow a vehicle. I don't know what off road wrecker games, really is, but my mind set. Is that, and hope is about actually towing vehicles and not about off trail climbing without a vehicle attached and towing it. I don't mean rope.
Gaylon Steel
14.03.2023You'll win the "cool" wrecker division for sure. Too hard to pick winner though. I enjoy watching all of you.
Kevin Brennan
14.03.2023I'm guessing you've got the : home town advantage", meaning you have a tried and tested vehicle. Good luck friend.π€

14.03.2023Just so it ain't shiny π€£π€£π€£ I don't care who wins. I joking , its going to be a good time, fun to watch. Coolest truck award goes to Merlin with Rorys comming in a close second. Good luck and safe travels ππ»ππ»ππ»

14.03.2023I'm partial to old mechanical diesels so I'm rooting for you. I think Rory has the biggest advantage since he is the one dealing with rollovers in the backwoods the most. That said, beat him!

14.03.2023Fab rays all the way you go fabrats

14.03.20231-Merlin diesel-strong engine tuff build. 2-Rory lot of experience in sand country. 3- ERIC BSF not so much experience in sand country. 4- FABRAT's Paul he will break down. 5- MATT's towing He is too damn big & heavy breaking his drive lines… I have watched Matt's build from the start. Pauls rebuild from his father's old machine with mucho upgrades. RORY's and ERIC's machines are old and obviously been an ongoing work in progress. AND THAT GUY MERLIN deserves a good outcome just for driving to the event in his Cummins diesel wrecker. NO ONE knows the specific challenges ahead. Are they done when they break something or repair on site. WHO is doing the judging and the criteria used to judge on. If they remove engine, powertrain and misc. from tow vehicles as opposed a brand spanking NEW JEEP worth 50K $. AND a lot depends on what is the dollar value of the tow machine, parts & labor. I will totally enjoy the entertainment in watching the games.

14.03.2023Its honestly so hard to say who will take the trophy, but its gonna be the fans that win. The amount of entertainment of a nature that has never been created before that will come of the games is gonna be awesome. I can't wait to qatch everything from 5 different angles and perspectives

11.03.2023So cool Merlin! I love your channel!
I'm pulling for you to win!
Paul second.
Matt third.
Mark K
11.03.2023I think Raury#1 , Paul#2, Matt#3, Merlin#4, BSF#5.
Tony Hand
11.03.2023Well look at it this way you'll be the only one that can pull Matt out when he breaks something LOL
Gregg Needham
11.03.2023Iβm going with Rory, Merlin,Paul,Matt and Eric in that order. Tried and true usually gets it done.
Good luck to all!!

11.03.2023think you have it sewen up
Anchorworks
11.03.2023You have a shot, diesels rule. I look forward to see you complete.

11.03.2023Not knowing the specifics about the events and how they will be judged, here are my thoughts.
A) Based on the thought that no one has major mechanical issues (which is highly unlikely)
1) Rory (Most driver experience, Most tried and tested equipment)
2) Paul (Good power to weight ratio, everything or nothing attitude)
3) Merlin (Well thought out vehicle, methodic problem solving, will put on a good show, but will be slower)
4) Eric (no disrespect, just don't know his vehicle and ability that well)
5) Matt (again, no disrespect, I have been telling my wife for months during his build videos that he is just to dog gone heavy)
B) Based on potential breakage that takes out a team
1) Rory (Same as above)
2) Merlin (Same as above)
3) Eric (Don't know him that well but he is experienced and most likely knows the limitations of his equipment)
4) Paul (Do to the never die and competitive nature, I think Paul will break trying to win)
5) Matt (Again, no disrespect, but I just don't think the concept and design will prove to be a good tool for what it is supposedly meant to do, cool but not well suited for the task)
Huge Fab Rats Fan, unless he grenades the thing, he will smoke Matt!
Huge Merlin fan, I know you will plod through the events and prove you belonged in the games.
Huge Matt fan, hope I am wrong, but logic and physics will go against him I think
Rory is clearly the guy to beat
Don't know Eric that well, I hope to learn more about him during all the content that will be posted of the games.
Good luck and safe games to everyone. Can't wait to see it.
Randy Singer
11.03.2023Thinking Rory and You are going to be the 2 to beat, Think one of you will be Towing Matt back after he breaks something, tough call Eric good in Mud, Paul made some tough tows with that truck before it was rebuilt. should be interesting

11.03.2023Melvin this one looks familiar- like your tow truck. Recovered by Casey La Delle. One more to add for parts It has a good back Window !

11.03.2023Hi Merlin
I am right here in Lake Havasu. I have a question about my 2017 Ram with a cummins and 173K miles. Great truck and a real workhorse. Never been in the shop for a single repair. Getting a code saying my exhaust particulate filter is 100% clogged. Not disputing the code. Question is I see people on YouTube cutting them out of the exhaust system cleaning them and welding them back together then reinstalling. Your the right person to ask when it comes to cummins engines. Do you think this practice is ok or is replacing the filter and spending the $$$$$ my only real option.
Mark Bridges
11.03.2023It isn't just the rigs, it's the drivers and their attitude to breaking things. Eric is cautious, slow and steady. Merlin doesn't like breaking things either. That leaves Paul, Rory and Matt to risk it for the win. One will win, probably Rory, the other two might come second or might break and not finish. So I think Rory 1st, either Matt or Paul 2nd, Merlin 3rd, Eric 4th, Matt or Paul 5th.

11.03.2023I DONT KNOW HOW MANY WINDOW REGULATORS I HAVE REPAIRED OVER THE YEARS…MANUAL CRANK SETS, ELECTRIC MOTORS, WE HAD A PILE OF OLD REGULATORS OUT BACK…PARTS ARE PARTS!!!

11.03.2023I've got a 2 place trailer and I am from Utah, I will gladly come down and haul your stuff up and back. Good luck, love your channel.

11.03.2023I believe itβs going to the old schoolers you Paul trail mater might give ya a run for your prize

#3 matts
Alan White
11.03.2023So hard to estimate a winner since we donβt know all the challenges, but that said: Rory is out there daily with a proven rig so that seems to be an advantage. Yours is also proven but not necessarily out there daily. Paul and Matt have new builds and not tested or fully tested. Donβt know that much about Eric. So, 1. Rory, 2. Merlin, 3. Eric, 4. Paul, 5. Matt.
gyumans
11.03.2023Just for the off road worthiness 3rd solid 4th
Robert McClelland
11.03.2023I like that rig, just needs some beadlock wheels…..
Steven Cleveland
11.03.2023Do you by chance remember the old boys name that you bought it from my wife and her family are from The Dalles OR
Chadd Thompson
07.03.2023I predict Rory to win, mater and Rory have proven themselves over and over again, then a tossup between you and Paul for second/third, I think Matt's truck is just going to break.
Valentin Gomez
07.03.2023My prediction for the Off Road Olympics Matt is going to win 1st but his twin brother (Rory) is going to give him a run for his money cousin Paul is coming in 3rd but I can't rule Merlin because he's a wizard after all… and it doesn't matter who gets last because they are losers anyway. Lol
stntmn99
07.03.2023Sorry, but I think it'll be Rory, then you coming in close, Matt, then Paul and Eric. Fun will be had by all! It'll be extra fun to see you all work together to help and fix each others vehicles! Have fun!
Jon G
07.03.2023Dead last for you my friend. Lol
kenneth lambert
07.03.2023matt has the advantage of weight and home field knowledge. Rory has the best equipped and tested rig as well as tons of really tough recovery/repairs. Merlin, your rig is solid and tested but seems to lack some of the extras Rory has on his. (side pull winches?). paul's rig is stout and will probably not break, but may have gremlins with electrics yet. may the best truck and team win!
Brian Laboucan
07.03.20231~ Matt
2-Rory
3~Merlin
4~Paul
5- BSF
Good luck out there π»π

07.03.2023Hi Does your awesome rig need a roll bar to protect yourself and anyone else riding with you

07.03.2023Newly built vs tried and tested? Time will tell.
Flyingcrocodile46
07.03.2023I kike you all. Matt will be runner up to Rory, then it's harder to pick, but likely Paul for third
