The Norfolk School Games is no longer just about sports and competitions.
Active Norfolk and the Norfolk School Games Organisers want to make a clear and meaningful difference to the lives of those young people that can benefit the most, as part of the National School Games government led programme.
The Norfolk School Games is here to inspire young people to be happier, healthier and to be physically active for life, through positive experiences. We now know that competition isn’t always the way to do that.
Therefore, to get young people active, we are designing different opportunities that meet the needs of more young people.
Some of the ways the Norfolk School Games will do this are:
– Continuing to work with the eight Norfolk School Games Organisers
– Offering support to those individual partnership schools that need some extra help to engage.
– Offering more young people the chance to gain leadership experience, especially those that wouldn’t usually have the chance to do so.
· Providing local Special Educational Needs & Disability festivals across Norfolk
We are also going to be using our website and social media platforms better, to signpost to other opportunities, which will include competitions.
The Norfolk School Games county wide colour run will also be back this summer, with a virtual and actual in-person event on the 24th June 2022!
We know that more young people have been less active recently but by being regularly active can not only help with your physical health but your mental health too. Including your self-esteem and confidence.
The Norfolk School Games wants to play its part in helping young people achieve their full potential by providing these inclusive opportunities to be active, to those that can benefit the most.
